What Is That To You?

Jesus said to him, "If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!" ~ John 21:22

After the resurrection and after being restored by Jesus, Peter had been told by Jesus that he would be nailed to a cross and crucified. Peter then looked back at John and said "Lord, what about this man?" to which Jesus replied with verse 22.

I think often times we can get the Peter mentality.

"Lord, why does this person seem to have a family who has it all together when my marriage is struggling but I'm following you?"

"Lord, why does this person have a bigger church and a bigger ministry?

"Lord, why does this person seem to have it easier than me?"

All the while, Jesus is saying to us "If it's my will, what is that to you? You follow me!"

Friends, if you're in a hard season of life, don't look at the lives of those around you, look up - to Jesus. Keep following Jesus. Keep being faithful. Keep trusting in His unique and special plan for your life.

The thing about comparison is that it isn't always true. What looks like a happy marriage and a happy family might secretly be filled with struggles. What looks like a bigger following is actually more responsibilities and a greater amount of stress. What seems to be a bigger bank account is actually filled with emptiness inside the soul.

So friend, find contentment and satisfaction in Christ this week, and keep following Him.
