What if Opposition is a Good Thing?

"But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost, for a wide open door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries." ~ 1 Corinthians 16:8

What if opposition is a good thing in the Christian life?

What if instead of doubting the very thing God called you to because it is hard and you are meeting difficulties, it was a sign that this is exactly where God wants you?

Could you imagine if Paul left Ephesus early due to the opposition? He would have missed abundant opportunities to see God at work. Instead, we read in Acts 16 that within two years, "All the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks."

In the Christian life, when we meet opposition, knowing that God has called us to a specific place in a specific season - that is; when we meet opposition while being obedient - it is usually a sign we are right where God wants us.

After all, if you're outside the will of God, while would Satan want to come after you? Why would he want to disrupt your comfort? It is when we are doing the will of the Lord that the evil one comes after us most fiercely.

If God has called you to something, then take heart in the tribulations and setbacks and opposition. Dig your heels in even more, get on your knees, and pray even fiercer. It may be that a great thing lies ahead.
