BAPTISM

What is Baptism?

Baptism is a public profession of faith, done in the presence of other believers, whereby a person goes under the waters by immersion and then comes up out of the water. It is an external act corresponding to an internal reality. Going under the waters represents our death and burial with Jesus, and coming up out of the waters signifies our resurrection life in Jesus.

Furthermore, baptism ought to be the first step of obedience for a disciple of Jesus, as Jesus commanded His followers to be baptized. It is also one of the two ordinances of the local church.

Who is Baptism For?

Baptism is for every person who has turned from their sins and placed their faith and trust in Jesus as Lord to save them. It is a personal and conscious decision made by an individual. Therefore, Living Stone Community Church does not baptize infants.
